(Eph. 2:20)  "And are built upon the foundation of the Apostles and Prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief cornerstone."
1 Cor. 3:9:  "...ye are God's building.

In order to build any building, God's included, it is necessary that the proper foundation is laid before any kind of construction can begin. It would be foolish in the natural to try to build a building without first making sure that the foundation is laid, but that is exactly what has been happening in the church for hundreds of years. Men have tried to build God's house according to their own blueprint instead of His without the proper foundation, and consequently, the building always collapses after a while. God's building can not stand on the traditions of men, but must be built on the foundation of the Apostles and Prophets, with Jesus Christ as the chief cornerstone, just as the Word of God says.

(1 Cor. 3:10-11)  "According to the grace of God which is given unto me, as a wise masterbuilder, I have laid the foundation, and another buildeth thereon. But let every man take heed how he buildeth thereupon. For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ." (Acts 2:42):  "And they continued steadfastly in the Apostles' doctrine........

New believers that were being added to the Church learned the Scriptures through the teaching of the Apostles. The Apostles' doctrine was the Old Testament which had already been given, and the new revelation that was being given to the Apostles and Prophets by the Holy Ghost.

We  see that the church can not be built without Jesus being the foundation. "In the beginning was the word, and the word was with God, and the word was God."  (Jn.1:1) Since Jesus is referred to as the Word, it would be safe to say that the Word is  the foundation, the WHOLE Word of God, the Written Word AND the living Word who is Christ Jesus.. The word (the Bible) is the blueprint that God has given us to build the church, and we must adhere to the Word in order to lay the foundation, and then to construct the house of God.

But, since modern-day Apostles and Prophets can't agree on all doctrinal issues, the Church is in a doctrinal mess!

(Eph. 3:1-5)  "For this cause I Paul, the prisoner of Jesus Christ for you Gentiles, if ye have heard of the dispensation of the grace of God which is given me to you-ward: how that by revelation He made known unto me the mystery: as I wrote afore in few words, Whereby when ye read, ye may understand my knowledge in the mystery of Christ which in other ages was not made known unto the sons of men, AS IT IS NOW REVEALED UNTO HIS HOLY Apostles AND Prophets BY THE SPIRIT....

Paul is saying that revelation for the New Testament came to the HOLY Apostles and Prophets by the Spirit. These were the ministers that Jesus designated to reveal the dispensation of grace that came by Jesus Christ. We find that the New Testament is written primarily by the Apostles.

(2 Pet. 1:21)  "For the prophecy (Old Testament) came not in old time by the will of man: but HOLY men of God (Prophets) spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost."

We find here that revelation for the Old Testament came through revelation given by the Holy Ghost to the Prophets, who in turn recorded the word for all generations to come. The foundation that the church is built upon is the whole word of God, both Old and New Testaments, which was given to the Apostles and Prophets, and the chief cornerstone, Jesus, who is the living Word. Therefore, we are instructed to build the church on nothing other than the whole Word of God.

The Church cannot be built on the foundation of fallible men such as the Prophets and Apostles that are being restored to the Church in this present hour.  Some teach that the Church is being built on the  revelation of modern day Apostles and Prophets, and say that God is building His Church on these flesh and blood modern day Apostles and Prophets. If that is true, the foundation of the Church of Jesus Christ is limited to the doctrines and carnal reasoning of men. THAT CAN NEVER BE!

The problem with the “revelation” of moder-day Apostles and Prophets is that much of their revelation is contrary to the 'more sure Word of Prophecy' which is the Word of God. Sound  doctrine is set aside in favor of “angelic” visitations and revelation and  sources of spiritual information that are clearly not given by the HOLY Spirit of God.

The building of the Church according to the Scriptures is built on the whole Word of God, the written Word, (the Bible) and the living Word which is Jesus Christ Himself.

The problem that contemporary Apostles and Prophets have is that they can not all all agree on the interpretation of the Scriptures. However, Paul the Apostle said that we should all speak the same thing in 1 Cor 1:10:

1Co 1:10 (KJV)  Now I beseech you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that ye all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you; but that ye be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment.

Since the revelation for the Word of God was given originally to the Apostles and Prophets, it seems logical that they would be the ministers who would bring doctrinal unity to the church in these last days in the building of God's house. "Ye also as living stones, are built up a spiritual house." (1 Pet.2:5)   The Apostles and Prophets that are being restored to the church today will lay the proper foundation for the successful building of God's spiritual house. Without these two ministries, the church can never be matured into the fully developed bride that Jesus is coming for.

The church has mostly denied the ministries of the Apostles and Prophets, and has suffered the consequences over the years, refusing to acknowledge what the word of God says concerning them. Men are claiming to be the head of the church, using their positions of power to control the saints, denying the word of God in order to perpetrate their own selfish, self serving doctrines. But, you can be certain that God will have His way in the end, and everything that can be shaken will be until only the word of the Lord will stand. It is imperative that the church receives the ministry of HOLY Apostles and Prophets today, so that we can go forward and be all that God has called us to be, and so that we can be built up as the spiritual house that He intended from the very beginning.

Based on the fact that Apostles and Prophets WILL rightly divide the Word, the ministers associated with COPS are committed to the proper revelation and understanding of the Scriptures. How can we be so certain that we can all arrive at the same conclusions concerning oneness of doctrine? THERE IS ONLY ONE WAY!

The method of rightly interpreting the Scriptures of truth is found in Is. 28:9-10 .

Isa 28:10 (KJV)  Whom shall he teach knowledge? and whom shall he make to understand doctrine? them that are weaned from the milk, and drawn from the breasts. For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little:

The Bible says that the Holy Spirit will reveal unto us the ACCURATE interpretation of the Scriptures.

If Apostles and Prophets will study the Word of God with the “precept on precept, line upon line method of interpreting the Bible, we WILL all speak and teach the same things.

Ministers today are so full of their own ideas about Scripture that there are multitudes of differing teachings that cause confusion in the Body of Christ. Is it any wonder the Saints are so mixed up on doctrine? Strict adherence to Holy Ghost interpretation of Scripture is not a priority of our present-day Apostles and Prophets.

The Bible tells us that NO PROPHECY of the Scripture is of any private interpretation, but most min- isters don't really care about BIBLICAL ACCURACY.

Most present-day Prophets rely more on what they believe they have heard from the spirit, than on the more sure word of prophecy, the Holy Scriptures. The problem is that many of these Prophets are hearing from demonic spirits, or are manufacturing cleverly disguised lies to confirm their silly “revelations” they believe they have received from the Holy Spirit.

Some of their prophecies are so disgusting and contemptible to Prophets who are truly hearing from the Lord that they recoil in horror listening to the incredible trash that is being served as the Word of the Lord.
